The Ultramarines, main group of supporters of the Girondins de Bordeaux in open war for months with the American management of their club, attacked Tuesday the new logo unveiled by it. “You make us ashamed…. Your two-ball “graphic identity” will never be that of the Girondins. The negation of the will of the people continues, you will suffer its fury ”, tweeted their manager Florian Brunet. “Of course we call for a boycott of all the products sold by the Girondins sporting this shameful hoax,” he added.

The logo puts more emphasis on the name of Bordeaux

The new logo, which has kept the coat of arms, the now white and gray scapular and the date of creation (1881), puts more emphasis on the name of Bordeaux because the club wishes to capitalize on the prestige of the city, than that of the Girondins now written smaller and in gold letters.

In the afternoon, the Girondin president, Frédéric Longuépée, target of the new mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic who asked Monday the shareholder of the Girondins club, the American investment fund King Street, to part with “this president which does not have the confidence of the supporters and cannot remain any longer at the head of this club “, received the support of the unions First League and the Union of the professional football clubs, which represent the clubs of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

“This interference in the life of this great football club is totally unacceptable both in substance and in form,” replied Tuesday the Premier League and the Union of Professional Football Clubs (UCPF). The two organizations recalled being “very attached at all times and in all circumstances to the sovereignty of sports organizations” and cite the regulations of the International Football Federation (Fifa) according to which “all member federations must manage their affairs independently “

Over 2,500 supporters in front of the town hall

“That the mayor can have a point of view on what is happening at the club, they will have to get used to it,” replied Pierre Hurmic on social networks. The latter, who fell on the right who reigned over Bordeaux for 73 years, had attended a rally on Saturday of around 2,500 supporters of the Girondins in front of the town hall where they had “shouted their anger” against the club’s management.

Finally, “after reflection and for the sake of appeasement”, Frédéric Longuépée, who had indicated his intention to file a complaint after the broadcasting during the confinement of the “Girondins Leaks”, audio tapes questioning certain compromising practices of the management of the club, returned to its position.
