After “Fortnite” or “Apex Legends”, the time has come for a new “battle royal”, “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout”. In a candy universe, disguised culbutos compete in challenges worthy of the “Ninja Warrior” show!
Mix the color palette of Splatoon and a game way Takeshi’s Castle or Ninja Warrior then put it in the form of a ‘battle royale’ online at the Fortnite, you will obtain Fall Guys : Ultimate Knockout. This new game is available from today on PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam). Developed by the British studio Mediatonic, specialized in mobile games, and published by Devolver Digital, in particular at the origin of the next Serious Sam 4, Fall Guys is a new kind of battle royal, focused on mini-games. Here, no mass killing, but just small characters like disguised somersaults bickering in a world of sweets and candies.
Rather than a classic FPS at the Apex Legends where the last survivor on the same map wins, this game takes place in two phases. In the first, dozens of players – up to 60, to be precise – compete in a frantic race to qualify for the events of the second phase. The selected will then be eliminated in a series of mini-games, in teams or in each-for-himself, until there is only one left. Fall Guys : Ultimate Knockout is available on PC and PS4 for 19.99 euros but some players will be able to have it for free. Indeed, PlayStation Plus subscribers can play it for free as long as they continue to purchase this subscription. Despite its clear difference with the rest of the titles of the genre, Fall Guys are already enjoying rave reviews and a first wave of player success. On Steam, 12,200 of them claim to have had a “very positive” experience since its launch on August 4. On Twitter (below), the developers recently announced that already 1.5 million people had started playing Fall Guys, in less than 24 hours.
