Ulama in Aceh Ask PUBG Players to be Caned All

KOMPAS.com-Chairman of the District Ulama Consultative Council (MPU) Aceh Barat, Teungku Abdurrani Adian, emphasized that every online game player Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds ( PUBG) and the like which contains elements of violence or war, deserves to be publicly flogged.

Player video game is considered as violators of Islamic law in Aceh.

“So it is very feasible in Aceh as a sharia country, perpetrators who commit illegal acts prohibited in Islam, very deserve to be dragged down to be sanctioned to be caned according to the rules in force in Aceh,” said Teungku Abdurrani Adian in Meulaboh, Friday (23 10/2020) as reported Among.

As is known, the MPU of Aceh Province in June 2019 issued a fatwa against playing PUBG online games and the like.

The fatwa was issued because the online game had a negative impact on society, especially the younger generation.

The game is considered to contain violence, warfare, so it is feared that it will have an impact on the character and psychology of the players.

For this reason, Teungku Abdurrani hopes that the Aceh Provincial Government will immediately implement the fatwa so that PUBG players or the like are sanctioned by caning, in accordance with Qanun (Perda) Number 6 of 2014 concerning the Law of Jinayat.

Teungku Abdurrani also asked the Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to support the fatwa that had been issued by the Aceh Provincial MPU regarding the PUBG fatwa.

Ulama in Aceh assessed that the games featured in the online video games had more harmful elements than the good ones.

The game also causes the players to become addicted and leads to violent behavior.

“The MPU is also advised to lobby the Aceh Government to make the fatwa of this online game as a guide for implementing Islamic law in Aceh,” he said.
