Ukrainians launched military and guerrilla counterattacks

Russia has suffered heavy casualties among junior officers, according to British intelligence

The Ukrainian armed forces launched two counterattacks near Kherson. Shortly before that, a similar experience took place in Gulyaypole. In all likelihood, the experiments did not lead to a significant change in the front line. The Russian side claims that the Ukrainians were successfully repulsed. The American Institute for the Study of War (WWW) writes:

A powerful explosion erupted this morning in the center of the Russian-occupied Milotopol. According to preliminary information, a man and two women were injured in an explosion of a Mercedes packed with explosives. One of the wounded is the niece of the Russians appointed by the head of the occupied part of the Zaporozhye region Evgeny Balitsky. He is believed to have been the target of the attack. Balitsky, a former member of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, was appointed on May 26th to head the military-civilian administration in the Russian-controlled Zaporizhia region. On the same day, the SBU opened a criminal case against Balicki for “collaborationism.”

The Russian side claims that the explosion of the car-bomb took place in the center of the city during the distribution of humanitarian aid. Ukrainians say the blast took place in the area where Balicki’s house is located.

The central Victory Square, where the Melitopol administration is located, has been cut off by security forces.

According to British intelligence, Russia has suffered significant losses among junior officers and middle-ranking officers.

Experts draw this conclusion from the fact that junior officers lead the tactical actions. In the West, such tasks are performed by highly qualified personnel. In addition, intelligence predicts that Russian battalion tactical groups will be less effective due to a shortage of commanders.
