“Ukrainian Intelligence Chief Predicts Decisive Battle and Possible Attack on Putin’s Military Parade”

The Ukrainian news media RBC has recently published a 52-minute long interview with Ukraine’s intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov.

The interview comes in the same period that a major Ukrainian offensive is expected, and Budanov tells RBC that he expects the upcoming battle to be decisive in the war.

– Whether you like it or not, we are approaching a battle that will be a milestone in Ukraine’s modern history. It is a fact and everyone understands it. When that will happen, we don’t know yet, but everyone understands that we are getting closer, he says.

He will not reveal what Ukraine’s plan is, but according to Budanov, the world will soon see what will happen.

– I believe that a considerably large area will be recaptured by force during this operation. But specifically where, what and when I don’t want to say anything about, he continues.

Detail creates speculation

According to Budanov, the Ukrainians have succeeded in creating fear in Russia.

In Moscow, it has been seen, among other things, that the air defense is being strengthened and that several shelters from the Cold War are now being renovated.

– They are scared, says the spy chief to RBC.

And there is one detail in particular from the spy chief’s office during the interview that has led to more speculation.

During the interview, the camera at one point points away from Budanov and towards the reporter. In the background you can see a flat screen with an image of a map in the background.

Although the image is not sharp, you can clearly see that the road network matches the map of Moscow.

Can attack military parade

It is not clear in the interview why Budanov has a map of Moscow in his office, but at the same time as the interview was conducted, Russian media reported that a Ukrainian drone had been shot down outside the Russian capital.

Some believe this could be the reason for the map, but other Ukrainian media outlets are speculating whether the Ukrainian spy chief plans to attack Vladimir Putin’s May 7 military parade.

According to the leaked Pentagon documents, Budanov tried to launch a major attack in Russia on the anniversary of the February 24 invasion. But the attack was stopped by the United States.

According to the Ukrainian Truexa News the next obvious target will be the military parade on 7 May.

Russia is preparing

Budanov points to several examples that may indicate that Russia is preparing for an attack from Ukraine.

Russia has suspended its missile attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure, and according to the Ukrainian intelligence chief, it is allegedly because Russia wants to save all the new missiles to be able to attack a Ukrainian offensive.

Budanov nevertheless believes that Russia cannot produce enough conventional missiles to make a difference.
