Disruptions in arms supplies undermined Ukraine’s trust in its Western partners. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in a comment to the agency Reuters after a one-day visit to Kyiv.

As examples of the failure of NATO allies, he cited the more than six-month delay in approving a new program of American aid to Ukraine and Europe’s inability to supply 1 million artillery shells, which had already been promised.

Stoltenberg emphasized that these delays had a serious impact on the battlefield in Ukraine, and in the end Russia gained the upper hand and the Armed Forces were forced to go on the defensive.

“Of course, the fact that we have not fulfilled what we promised undermines trust,” Stoltenberg said, but added that Kyiv still believes in its allies.

According to Stoltenberg, such shortcomings show that it is time to review the coordination of international military aid to Kyiv.
