Ukraine’s Military to Receive F-16 Fighter Jets and Patriot Missiles: Latest Updates and Implications

In early August this year, the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they would provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. According to the United States, once Ukrainian pilots complete the corresponding F-16 training, they will be immediately allowed to transfer F-16 fighters from Denmark and the Netherlands. It is reported that the first batch of Dutch F-16 fighter jets will arrive within a week, which can be inferred that the current training of Ukrainian pilots is about to be completed.

Analysts from the Institute of War Studies (ISW) pointed out that Dutch F-16 fighter jets are expected to arrive in Ukraine within a week. At the same time, it was reported that retired US military pilots also voluntarily entered Ukraine under mysterious identities.

Regarding this series of military assistance, Ukrainian aviation expert Bohdan Dolyntse said that F-16 fighters and Patriot missiles will attack Russian fighters without entering the area covered by the Russian air defense system. Nataliya Humenyuk, spokesperson of the Southern Combat Command Center, further pointed out that the capabilities of the Patriot missiles have been confirmed after shooting down three Su-34 fighter jets, forcing Russia to suspend the use of tactical aircraft and guided aviation bomb. In addition, there was news that the Ukrainian army shot down another Su-34 and a Su-30 fighter jet on Christmas Eve local time.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat revealed that the first batch of F-16 fighter jets will be modernized, and European and American companies are actively participating in this process.

However, the support actions of various countries also aroused dissatisfaction among senior Russian government officials, who began to issue threatening remarks, making the situation in the entire region even more tense.
