Ukraine’s Armed Forces Exceed Expectations in Successful Counteroffensive: NATO Secretary General

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are once again exceeding the expectations of allies, regaining control over more and more Russian-controlled territories in difficult conditions. In the course of the counteroffensive operations, the Ukrainian troops successfully repulsed the Russian forces, gradually pushed them out of his positions and managed to break through some of his fortified defense lines. This is how NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assesses Ukraine’s counteroffensive in an interview with the American television channel CNN.

In this regard, Stoltenberg emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s support from its partner and allied countries.

“The Ukrainians are gradually coming in, which means they are pushing back the Russians and can break through some of these well-fortified areas, partly thanks to the minefields,” the Norwegian recalled.

In the interview, Stoltenberg also draws attention to the heavy fighting on the fronts, but adds that on their difficult path to victory, the Ukrainians “are making progress that is gaining speed”.

He also disagreed with critical assessments by some Western militaries and experts about the ASU’s slow progress in the campaign and added that there was “constant dialogue” between NATO allies and with the Ukrainian side.

“We saw that the Ukrainians once again exceeded expectations. And we must remember that it all started last year with a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine – then experts thought that Ukraine would last only a few days or weeks. But they liberated the north – Kiev, in the east – Kharkiv region, and in the south – Kherson. And now they are achieving even greater success,” assured Stoltenberg.
