Unstoppable ruble, at its highest since 2015 against the dollar
Russia is unable to curb the ruble’s run, despite the Central Bank’s reduction of 1,050 basis points in rates, which has progressively brought them back from 20% to 9.5%, and the easing of capital control measures introduced to counter the sanctions following the war in Russia. The ruble gained 3.8% to 55.25 dollars, confirming this year as the best currency in the world, with an increase of more than 35%. A trend that worries the Russian authorities, making their exports less competitive, but which the central bank has not been able to counter so far.
