“To Live Better 2024” Fund will finance social projects for up to $20 million in O’Higgins – 2024-04-06 02:15:23

Applications for this initiative promoted by the Ministry of Social Development and Family are open until Thursday, April 18, on the web platform Sociedadcivil.ministeriodesarrollosocial.gob.cl/.

During a visit to the Eluney Equine Therapy Foundation in the commune of Quinta de Tilcoco, the Seremi of Social Development and Family, Nayadeth Ahumada Herrera, presented the new call for the Fund to Live Better. In its 2024 version, the competitive fund will allocate $1,000 million to projects that work to overcome poverty and/or various vulnerabilities in the country.

The call is divided into two lines of competition: one for social action and another for experience evaluation. In social action, the fund promotes the development of social projects of civil society organizations that work to overcome multidimensional poverty and various vulnerabilities, with special attention to social demands aimed at care, mental health, gender inequalities, migrants , citizen participation. This line has a budget of $800 million and is aimed at foundations and corporations with at least two years of experience.

On the other hand, in the Experience Evaluation line, projects that develop evaluations of existing social intervention programs will be financed, with a total budget of $200 million. This line is aimed at foundations, corporations and public and private universities recognized by the State, also with at least two years of experience.

The Seremi of Social Development and Family, Nayadeth Ahumada, highlighted that “as the Ministry of Social Development and Family, we have an important mission in working to overcome poverty and inequalities, where civil society organizations play a fundamental role. for it. “We precisely came to visit a care space, which is in line with what we are working on as a Government, in the sense of being able to lay the foundations for a National Support and Care System that is here to stay.”

This is a competitive fund in which all non-profit organizations and corporations that work to overcome poverty and different types of vulnerability can apply. The maximum amount that the different projects presented can access is $20 million. In addition, resources will be allocated to a minimum of two institutions per region, allowing the implementation of social intervention projects throughout the country.

During the presentation of the fund, Seremi Nayadeth Ahumada met with representatives and beneficiary families of the Eluney Equine Therapy Foundation, which in the 2023 edition was awarded the fund with the project “Equinetherapy as a means of rehabilitation for boys and girls diagnosed with mental disorders.” Neurodevelopment, of municipal education of the commune of Quinta de Tilcoco.

This project, where they could access up to 20 million pesos, provides neurological rehabilitation therapy to 20 boys and girls, from the municipal education of the commune of Quinta de Tilcoco, belonging to the 60% most vulnerable, according to the Social Registry of Households, among 4 and 14 years of age.

Benedicta Maturana, in charge of coordination of the Eluney Equine Therapy Foundation, emphasized that “the support they have given us is wonderful. We have fulfilled the dream of the institution, of being able to have a fully equipped room, with high technology. We have the first sensory aid room in the commune for children. It is a room highly trained to care for all types of pathologies within the autism spectrum and neuro rehabilitation.”

Meanwhile, Belén Cornejo, mother of Máximo, one of the children who benefited from the project, said that “that these rehabilitation centers exist today, and are more inclusive with our children, is a great advance at the country and community level. They are very professional, very good people, apart from professional support there is emotional support. The progress my son has made is fabulous with the equine therapy, the pediasuit, and the lights. It is good that these projects are being won and promoted.”

For her part, the director of the Quinta de Tilcoco Special School, Tatiana Uribe, highlighted that “the foundation gives us the opportunity to bring our children, free of charge. It has been very important for our establishment, because of the progress we have made with the students, they are impressive. I wish there were these equine therapy centers everywhere.”

The application process will be open from April 18, 2024, through the website. The award results will be announced on June 28, 2024.
