Ukraine responded to Silvio Berlusconi Thursday, after the former Italian premier praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes Politico.
“It must be under the influence of Russian vodkaMykhailo Podoliak, adviser in the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, exploded in Italian on Twitter.
Berlusconi has “reconnected” with Putin and he called himself one of the “five true friends” of the Russian presidentaccording to a leaked audio recording published in the Italian media earlier this week.
Podoliak praised Italy’s expected next prime minister, far-right Giorgia Meloniwho “slapped” Berlusconi after the inflammation of the former leader.
“Every crisis opens the way for true leaders”, a Meloni “demonstrates what the true principles and understanding of global challenges are. Everyone chooses their own path, “added Podoliak.
The Ukrainian embassy in Italy said it was “saddened” in reading Berlusconi’s comments, describing them as “authoritarian imperialist declarations”.
