Ukraine Allegedly Strikes Russian Air Defense Position in Luhansk Region with ATACMS Missiles

Yesterday, October 25, Ukraine allegedly hit a Russian air defense position with three S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region with ATACMS missiles. This follows from a message from one of the Russian propaganda Telegram channels VChK-OGPU, which refers to an unnamed source.

The Russian Ministry of Defense yesterday announced the alleged “interception” of two ATACMS missiles.

A source from the propaganda channel commented: “That’s exactly it. Two ATACMS missiles were destroyed as a result of a direct hit on the position of an air defense group of the Russian Armed Forces in the Luhansk region and at the cost of three S-400 missile launchers located there.”

VChK-OGPU, a Russian anonymous Telegram channel with 835,000 subscribers created in 2018, often publishes supposedly “insiders” about security forces/special services/politicians/events in the Russian Federation and the occupied part of Ukraine. Some of them are confirmed, the rest cannot be verified.

In local chats yesterday they also wrote that in the area where the attack took place, there were allegedly air defense systems of the invaders, but this information is impossible to verify.

The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not report either the attack or its result.

The occupiers published photographs with ATACMS upper stages. According to their information, the rockets allegedly fell early in the morning of October 25 in the temporarily occupied territory of the Belorechensky village near Lugansk.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat said that the photos of the ATACMS engine published by the Russians do not mean that they managed to shoot down the missile. But theoretically, the Russian Federation can shoot down ATACMS – these could be S-300V1 air defense systems.
