During the meeting, Cameron said that Palestinians must be given a “political horizon” to push for peace in the Middle East. According to him, the people Palestine must be shown “irreversible progress” towards a two-state solution.

“Along with this, the most important thing of all is to provide a political horizon to the Palestinian people so that they can see that there will be irreversible progress towards a two-state solution, and most importantly the establishment of a Palestinian state,” he said.

“That could be one of the things that helps make this process irreversible,” he said.

Britain has long supported a two-state solution, in which Palestinians and Israelis live side by side in separate states.

However, according to BBCCameron in his latest statement indicated that the UK would grant official and diplomatic recognition to the Palestinian state not as part of a final peace deal, but earlier, during the negotiation process itself.
