Anderson Silva was untouchable in the UFC and faced Chael Sonnen in his seventh middleweight title defense. Sonnen had verbally lashed out at Silva several times before the match and assured the fans that he would wipe the floor with the Brazilian.

Sonnen seemed to live up to his statements. Entering the fourth round, Sonnen was well ahead on the scorecards with his strong wrestling. After he took Silva to the canvas again in the fifth round, it seemed to be over for the Brazilian. However, Silva showed that he was a special fighter and was able to completely turn the match around from an impossible position.

With just under two minutes to go, he managed to land a Triangle Armbar from his back out of nowhere. Sonnen reacted too late and was unable to defend. To his own dismay, the American had to tap out. Silva managed to win from an impossible position and defend his title for the seventh time. The match between Silva and Sonnen will be added to the UFC Hall of Fame at the end of June during International Fight Week.
