UEFA advises on possible postponement of football championship

In the shadow of the coronavirus crisis, trend-setting decisions for Europe’s football are pending on Tuesday. The UEFA crisis meeting will discuss, among other things, a postponement of the EURO 2020, as well as the continuation of the European Cup competitions and the national leagues. In the early afternoon, the 55 member associations discuss the current situation via telephone conference.

Almost all championships are currently interrupted in Europe, including the five top leagues England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. The Austrian Bundesliga is pausing, as are the Champions League and the Europa League. To complete these competitions, an EM postponement is essential. The fact that the final tournament will be held in twelve countries clearly speaks for a relocation. In addition, four EM starters have not yet been decided because the play-offs are scheduled for the end of March.
