Ubisoft is scrapping both Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline

And two more unannounced games have been dropped.

We already have written about that Massive Entertainments and Ubisofts Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been postponed, and the bad news from Ubisoft’s quarterly report doesn’t end there. In an accompanying conference call with investors, they revealed that development on no fewer than four games has been shut down.

First up is the battle royale title Ghost Recon Frontlineas was described as a multiplayer shooter for up to 100 players that was aimed at a wider audience. However, the announcement of this free-to-play game was anything but warm. A closed beta test was supposed to have been held last October, but was postponed indefinitely on the same day it would have started.

The other game shut down is Splinter Cell VRas was announced already in 2020 together with a VR game in the world of Assassin’s Creed. We got very little info about it, other than that both games were brand new and made for VR, and since the announcement it’s basically been quiet.

Beyond Frontline and Splinter Cell VR Ubisoft has also canceled two games that have not been announced yet, and the reason is supposed to be to cut costs so that they can focus even more on their biggest development opportunities.
