Ubisoft fires controversial Assassin’s Creed director

That tells a spokesperson for the studio Bloomberg. Ashraf Ismail also led the Assassin’s Creed titles Black Flag and Origins.

The CEO withdrew from the company in June after he was accused of cheating. He is said to have hidden his marriage to pick up fans, among other things.

In recent months, Ismail has been paid as usual, but according to Ubisoft that is coming to an end now that he has been officially fired. The company does not say whether the investigation revealed more about its behavior.

Under a magnifying glass

Ubisoft has been under a magnifying glass since June, after several employees told about the inappropriate situation in the office. Executives are said to be sexist and homophobic.

Earlier, CEO Sergé Hascoët was fired. He was ultimately responsible for all of the multinational’s games, but was also central to many of the allegations. With the resignation of Ismail, Ubisoft has lost the lead behind their biggest game this year.
