Ubisoft and CD Projekt confirm their support

Difficult to understand what really stuck with publishers regarding Cloud Gaming and more particularly the service launched by Nvidia, the GeForce Now.

Since its launch in official version after 2 years of beta, some publishers have chosen to withdraw from the project. We can cite Activision – Blizzard, Bethesda as well as 2K Games. Without real explanations, it becomes more and more obvious that a question of money would be at the root of the problem.

However, GeForce Now does not offer access to free games, at least only in part. PC titles which are traditionally free are also available on the service, but for AAA titles, you have to transfer your legally purchased licenses to take advantage of them on Nvidia’s servers. Technically, GeForce Now is not a game sales platform and does not collect any commission related to the sale of content, but operates on a subscription only used to pay for access to servers and hosting. ‘a virtual machine, a bit like what Shadow offers, but only for video games.

One of the logical explanations would then be to think that the editors shun Cloud Cloud services while waiting for one of them to contact them to tie up an exclusivity which would then be remunerated … We know very well that the importance of the catalog compatible titles is essential, and it could therefore be a playing card for publishers.

Some publishers could even consider offering their own cloud gaming service … at the risk of facing a failure, for the reasons mentioned just before.

Anyway, Nvidia can still count on allies, and after the Epic Games Store yesterday, it is Ubisoft and CD Projekt’s turn to reaffirm that their titles will be maintained on the service.

Cyberpunk 2077 will also be compatible with GeForce Now from its launch … Stadia had held out for a while that the title would be an exclusive, so it will ultimately be nothing.
