U21 national team player leaves AIK for the Danish league

19-year-old Eric Kahl started his football career at the age of four in AIK and has since made his way all the way up to the A-team. Once there, there have been 33 competitive matches in the AIK shirt. But that’s where it stops now.

On Saturday night, AIK went out on their website to agree with the Danish club AGF Århus on a transfer for Kahl, now the U21 national team player for Sweden.

– Eric Kahl is a fine ambassador and role model for AIK and young players who today are chasing their dreams within AIK Youth Football. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, leaders and coaches who have been a part of his development, from our own boys’ school to our national team, says AIK Football’s sports manager Henrik Jurelius to the club’s website.

As AIK is a limited company and by law must notify the stock market of transfer sums, they have introduced a classification, in accordance with UEFA’s “Player Trading” definition of performance measures, where they state the transfer result’s net profit after agency fees and other sales costs.

The transitional sum in Kahl’s case is classified as class “IV”, which means that the net transitional sum amounts to between SEK 10-20 million.

During last year’s season, Kahl made 27 competitive matches for the club and has in 2021 made seven competitive matches. Most recently in AIK’s 2-0 victory at home at Friends Arena against Kalmar.

– I want to thank all the players and leaders in AIK who have taken part in my development. I wish the team good luck for the rest of the season and for the coming seasons, says Eric Kahl to the club’s website in connection with the transfer.

Kahl has signed a five-year contract with Århus, the Danish club states on its website.
