Typhoon No. 6 ‘Kanun’ Path: Updates, Predictions, and Impacts on Japan and Korea

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, as of 8 pm on the 8th, Kanun is moving northwest at a speed of 10 km per hour in the sea 60 km south of Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan.

The central air pressure is 970 hPa, and the maximum wind speed near the center reaches 30 m/s.

The expected precipitation by the evening of the 9th is 400mm in southern Kyushu, 300mm in Amami, and 250mm in Shikoku.

Strong winds continue to blow, and on the 9th, the maximum wind speed in the Kyushu and Amami regions is expected to exceed 30 m/s.

The Japan Meteorological Agency predicted that with this typhoon, total precipitation in western Japan and the Pacific Ocean may exceed the average precipitation in August.

Kanun is expected to pass through Japan and land on the southern coast of Korea on the morning of the 10th.

Meanwhile, Typhoon No. 7 ‘Ran’, which occurred at sea near 1,500 km southeast of Tokyo on the morning of this day, is expected to turn northwest on the 10th and head toward Shikoku Island, Japan.
