A two-year-old child died yesterday in a swimming pool in Cabanas, Palmela. According to the CM, the boy was with family members and fell into the water in circumstances that are not yet fully understood.
A source from INEM told the CM that, after the alert, an Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle and Red Cross means were activated. The child was already in cardiorespiratory arrest, resuscitation maneuvers were still performed, but without success. The death was declared on the spot and then INEM psychologists were mobilized to support the boy’s family.
The GNR took care of the occurrence, but because it was a death in unclear circumstances, the data was forwarded to the Judiciary Police, explained an official source at the General Command of Guarda without giving further details about the case.
This is the second case of deadly drowning in swimming pools in the municipality of Palmela in just one month. On June 21, a two-year-old boy fell into the pool at the Vasco da Gama campsite, in Pinhal Novo, when his parents checked in and did not survive.
