Two women from Uri at the women’s session in Bern

“Concentrated women’s power” takes on gender equality in Bern, and women from Uri are also part of it

The women’s session in October is intended to give equality a new boost in Switzerland. From Uri there are Chiara Gisler and Eveline Lüönd.

It has been fifty years since women in Switzerland received federal voting rights. At that time, eleven national councilors were sworn in for the first time in parliament. With these pioneers, the issue of gender equality became more prominent in Switzerland. A topic that Switzerland is still grappling with today. That is why women’s sessions have been held for around thirty years. On October 29th and 30th, the time has come again: 246 women negotiate the most urgent political issues for women in Switzerland for two days in the Federal Palace. They were elected by around 12,000 registered voters. Voters also include trans women and people who are considered women by society, as can be read on the Alliance F website. The umbrella organization of women’s organizations in Switzerland is responsible for organizing the women’s session.
