Two Trans-Sumatra Toll Roads Ready to Operate Before Indonesian Independence Day

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Ministry of Public Works and People’s Housing (PUPR) ensures two streets toll which is part of the Way Toll Trans-Sumatra construction is complete and ready to operate before Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia August 17, 2020.

Second toll road those respectively Wood Agung-Kramasan along 42 kilometers which is part of the Agung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road with a total length of 112 kilometers, and Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll along 131 kilometers.

Streets Kayu Agung-Kramasan was developed by PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk through its subsidiary PT Waskita Toll Road, while the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road was built by PT Hutama Karya (Persero).

Director of PT Waskita Toll Road, Herwidiakto, said that the physical construction of the Kayu Agung-Kramasan section is now completely completed.

“All that remains is the work in the form of a fireplace and reforestation which is currently being done,” Herwidiakto said Kompas.com, Monday (7/20/2020).

Regarding tariffs, according to Herwidiakto, it is still calculated and the company is currently focusing on completing the document on the change of scope.

Meanwhile, SEVP Corporate Secretary PT Hutama Karya (Persero) Tbk Muhammad Fauzan also confirmed that the Pekanbaru-Dumai section was ready for operation.

He said he was waiting for an Operation Eligible Certificate (SLO) from the Ministry of PUPR.

“So far the PUPR Ministry team has gone down (reviewing the field) and is still in the process of minor improvements related to the feasibility evaluation. So our position is waiting for direction from the PUPR Ministry,” explained Fauzan.

Earlier in a press release, Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the presence of toll roads connected to productive areas would reduce logistics costs.

“It also can increase the competitiveness of domestic products so that it will spur regional economic growth and create new economic centers,” said Basuki, Sunday (07/19/2020).

In addition to the Kayu Agung-Kramasan, and Pekanbaru-Dumai sections, two other toll roads that are ready to be opened to the public are the Banda Aceh-Sigli Section 4 Indrapuri-Blang Bintang Toll Road, and the Manado-Airmadidi Segment Manado-Bitung Toll Road.
