Two stations have already withdrawn. There is a favorite for broadcasting Ekstraklasa!

Polish Television and Polsat dropped out of the circle of people interested in broadcasting Ekstraklasa, according to Krzysztof Stanowski. Only Viaplay and the big favorite, Canal +, remained on the “battlefield”.

“From what I hear, TVP and Polsat will not fight for Ekstraklasa. They are left with Canal + and Viaplay, but only Canal + really,” Stanowski wrote on Twitter.

Weszło.com informed about TVP’s interest in fighting for the rights to Ekstraklasa in mid-June. As Maciej Wąsowski emphasized then – the public television authorities still had to obtain the consent of the government representatives. It looks like the case was cut quickly. Just like the fact that Polsat will enter the game for Ekstraklasa.

In turn, the Scandinavian Viaplay group is dynamically developing on the Polish market. It already has the rights to broadcast the Europa League, European Conference League, Bundesliga, KSW galas, and from next season it will also show the Premier League and F1 races (from the 2023 season).

The most likely scenario, however, is that Canal + will once again buy the broadcasting rights of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. It is estimated that such a project may cost about PLN 300 million annually. The Canal + group has been broadcasting matches of the highest Polish league since 1995. Its current contract expires after the 2022/2023 season.

TV giants have time to submit their offers to Ekstraklasa SA until June 30, 2022.
