In a written statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, “One of our hero gunmates was martyred at the scene in the vehicle accident that took place in the Claw-Kaplan region in northern Iraq on November 18, 2020, two of our hero gunmates were injured and were immediately transferred to the hospital. One of our heroic comrades-in-arms, who was transferred to the hospital, was martyred despite all the interventions. We wish God’s mercy to our sainted martyrs who lost their lives in this incident that drowned us in deep pain and sorrow, our grieving family, our noble nation with the Turkish Armed Forces, our condolences and patience, and urgent healing to our injured personnel.

MARTYR SOLDIERS WERE ATTENDED

Two soldiers who were martyred as a result of the toppling of a military vehicle in the northern part of Iraq, in the Claw-Kaplan region, were sent off to their hometown after the ceremony.

During the ceremony at the 23rd Infantry Division Command, the corpses of the martyred Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Rasim Sayan and Expert Sergeant Mehmet Sinan Kılıç, wrapped in the Turkish flag, were put on the catafalque, a minute’s silence was made, the resumes of the martyrs were read and prayers were made.

The bodies of Martyr Sayan and Kılıç were carried to the ambulance on the shoulders of their comrades after receiving halalness. The funeral of Sayan, one of the martyrs, was sent to Edirne by plane from Şırnak Şerafettin Elçi Airport, and Kılıç was sent to Şanlıurfa.

The ceremony was attended by Şırnak Deputy Governor Tunahan Efendioğlu, Gendarmerie Regional Commander Brigadier Ali İhsan Ersoy, 23 Infantry Division Commander Brigadier General İdris Acartürk, Çakırsöğüt Gendarmerie Commando Brigade Commander Brigadier General Tekin Aktemur, Chief of Police Mustafa Eme Başbuğ and his comrades.

In the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, it was stated that a soldier was martyred at the scene of a vehicle accident in the northern part of Iraq, and two soldiers were sent to the hospital, despite the interventions made in the hospital, another soldier was martyred.
