In a major fire in an apartment building in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht (South Holland), at least two people were seriously injured in the night from Monday to Tuesday, the fire brigade reports Twitter. The victims have been taken to hospital.
The fire broke out around 1:00 am on the fourth floor of a building on De Heerlijkheid. Several emergency services were called in.
The injured were taken to hospital. It is not known how they are doing. Three residents were treated by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation.
The residents of the underlying floors had to be evacuated. They have been received in the town hall.
After more than an hour, the fire brigade had the fire under control. The residents of the ground floor and first floor were allowed to return to their homes around 3.15 am.
There was a lot of smoke development during the fire. Local residents were asked to stay out of the smoke. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
