Two people were killed in a fire in a residential house in Daugavpils on Sunday, the State Fire and Rescue Service informed (VUGD).

At 19.18, firefighters rushed to a call in Daugavpils, where a fire had broken out in a residential house.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found that the first floor of a two-storey wooden building of 80 square meters was burning with an open flame and a strong smoke had formed.
Two people died in the fire. One person was rescued from the second floor of the building, but one person was injured trying to enter the burning building before the SFRS arrived.
At 11:13 p.m., this high-risk fire was extinguished.
On weekends, the SFRS received 155 calls – 56 for fire, 66 for rescue work, but 33 calls were deceptions.
