A man who had just snatched the necklace from an octogenarian on the street in Perpignan, before running away couldn’t run very far. Two passers-by, a center director and a youngster
firefighter from the Perpignan Nord barracks, chased him and quickly caught up with him.
Despite his attempts to escape by spraying them with tear gas, the assailant was eventually subdued until the police arrived. The necklace was returned to the victim.
16 years old and already well known to justice
The 16-year-old assailant has already been sentenced several times for thefts in the Paris region. He will be referred this Thursday morning to the juvenile court from Perpignan.
