In the coming World Cup winter there will be two slaloms of alpine ski men in Schladming for the first time in January 2021.

“The FIS approached us via the ÖSV and said that the slalom might come from Wengen to Schladming – so there will probably be two night slaloms,” said Hans Grogl, head of the organizing committee at ORF.

On January 26th and 27th, floodlights are to be used in the Enns Valley. However, since no one can say at the moment what the situation around the coronavirus pandemic will look like in January, the responsible persons are dealing with three scenarios, according to Grogl: “One variant is that it is in fact the same as in previous years. There is a variant where you only expect 10,000 to 20,000 spectators. The third variant is without a spectator, ”said Grogl.

After two Formula 1 Grands Prix, a second major double sporting event in Styria would take place in times of Corona. The appointment confirmation is to follow at the beginning of October at the congress of the International Ski Association (FIS) in Zurich.
