The number of Covid-19 infections in Madagascar has reached the 10,000 case mark. The epidemic has already infected 10,104 people including 414 for the day yesterday. And of the 22 regions, only Melaky remains (for the moment) spared.
The pandemic does not ebb in Madagascar. Statistics from Prof. Hanta Vololontiana revealed 414 new people infected with Covid-19 yesterday, for a total of 10,104 cases, since March 19.
In Analamanga, the most affected region, the curve is not yet on the downward slope. After more than 5 months of a health emergency, the coronavirus has reached nearly 8,000 people in Analamanga. Atsinanana is in the second position ahead of Alaotra Mangoro and Diana. For now, only Melaky is not infected, otherwise the coronavirus continues to circulate in the 21 regions of the country.
Of the 414 new cases yesterday, 347 were recorded in Analamanga, 20 in Boeny, 13 in Alaotra Mangoro, 12 for Matsiatra Ambony and 8 cases for Sofia. La Sava has identified 5 new cases if Atsinanana and Atsimo Andrefana each have four. For its part, the Anosy region recorded only one positive case yesterday.
Regarding the number of deaths, Madagascar is also approaching the 100 dead mark. Yesterday, two patients succumbed to the disease, at Befelatanana Antananarivo hospital and in Mahanoro. The total number of Covid-19 deaths thus stands at 93.
Serious forms on the rise
The cases of severe form also continue to increase despite the recoveries. Yesterday, the Covid-19 Operational Command Center (CCO) announced that 103 patients are in respiratory distress. Analamanga has 89 (51 at Befelatanana hospital, 16 at HJRA, 15 in Anosiala, one case in Homi and 3 each in Andohatapenaka and Fenoarivo hospitals). In the regions, Antsirabe and Fianarantsoa take care of 6 patients with the severe form against 2 for Boeny.
6,613 cases of cures
Despite the new cases, 353 people were able to recover from the disease, including 310 in Analamanga with 273 treated at home. The 37 other healings are to be distributed in 10 hospitals in the region, in particular the HJRA, the Befelatanana hospital, the Homi, the Anosiala hospital, that of Andohatapenaka, Anosy Avaratra, the Kintana Ambatomena hospital, the Ampahibe regional military hospital, CTC-19 in Ivato and Cnaps Vontovorona. With a cumulative of 6,613 cases of cures, Madagascar thus has 3,398 active cases of Covid-19.
However, it should be noted that 43 cases of recovery were located in the regions including 11 in Boeny, 10 in Vatovavy-Fitovinany, 9 in Atsinanana, 4 each for Bongolava and Anosy, 3 in Fianarantsoa and 2 others in Toliara.
