The co-founder of Panthera Team Asia said he was “open” to working with Hong Kong billionaire Calvin Low, who has shown interest in F1.
The Hong Kong businessman, with a net worth of over $1.7 billion, emerged as a potential new F1 entrant when he said last December that he was looking for a way to line up on the F1 grid.
Calvin Lowe, with his financial experience, is considering working with an existing team or creating a completely new team to enter F1, making him a perfect candidate given his background, could be Pantera Team Asia.
Panthera Team Asia are one of many names looking to enter the F1 grid for 2026 and have started working through the FIA’s expression of interest process.
When asked about the possibility of partnering with Calvin Law in the future, Panthera Team Asia co-founder and team principal Benjamin Durand said, “It is possible.”
“I’m not talking to Calvin Law right now,” Benjamin Durand told PlanetF1.com.
“It was interesting to see his comments in the press because he basically said the same thing that we are saying now that the Asian market is not the focus and the US is the focus. why are you saying
“Everyone’s looking that way. Everyone’s facing west. Nobody’s facing east. It’s wrong, but it’s also good for us because we can carry it. So Calvin Law and there’s a lot of things that match.”
“I don’t know the details of his project, but we are open to everything. If someone can come and bring something that can strengthen our project and strengthen our bid for Formula 1, we are still open. We are at that stage, and this is a good thing”.
Calvin Law responded by agreeing that Asia is a huge market, saying “the conversation has already started.”
