Two killed in a traffic accident in Upper Austria

The car came off to the left of the carriageway, slid 90 meters across a meadow and hit the rear of a fruit tree with great force. The 20-year-old riding in the back seat was thrown out of the car. The car itself skidded 27 meters further and came to a standstill behind a residential building.

15-year-old dies in Adlwang

The 19-year-old driver was briefly passed out after the accident. But then he was able to get out of the car and get help from the nearby house. The residents immediately alerted the emergency services, but any help came too late for the two passengers. The man thrown out of the car and the girl in the passenger seat died of their injuries at the scene of the accident. Attempts to resuscitate by two emergency teams were unsuccessful.

The car driver himself was seriously injured in the accident and was admitted to the Steyr State Hospital. A Red Cross crisis intervention team looked after the relatives of the two deceased. The cause of the accident was not clear at first, the responsible public prosecutor’s office in Steyr ordered the vehicle to be secured and blood to be taken from the driver.

Memories of fatal accident from 2012

Almost in the same place, a girl and two young women were killed in a fatal traffic accident in October 2012. The driver of her car – a young L17 driver’s license holder – had lost control of his car in a risky overtaking maneuver. The car collided with the passenger side first against a tedder, then with full force against a horse trailer and a pick-up. While three occupants died, the driver and a girl sitting behind him remained almost unharmed.

A resident reported in a video by a press photographer on Sunday that the street in front of his house kept tempting drivers to lawn. After the devastating accident eight years ago, an application was made for an 80s restriction, which was rejected.
