NEWS INFO17. A couple of octogenarians was the victim of several criminals this Wednesday morning in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis). Two fake police officers managed to steal several tens of kilos of gold bars from them, in particular, using the pretext of an imaginary intervention. The loot exceeds two million euros.

By the time they realized that they had been despoiled, it was unfortunately too late. An elderly couple living in Noisy-le-Grand received a visit from a man who introduced himself as a water agent this Wednesday morning around 10 am. The latter explained to the two residents of 85 and 87 that he had to intervene in their house, to solve a problem.

After a short check in the kitchen, the man left. A few minutes later, the follow-up to the evildoers’ plan began. Two men knocked on the couple’s door in their 80s and showed police cards. They reassured the two inhabitants by telling them that they had just called the water agent, while making them believe that he was a thief. It was in fact their accomplice.

To put their victims at ease, the two “fake cops” added that this impostor had probably committed thefts in their home.

He opens his safe

This is how they were allowed to enter the house. They then pretended to want to make checks to ensure that no valuables had been stolen, details a source close to the file. While one of the criminals was on the 1st floor, his accomplice asked the octogenarian to open his safe on the ground floor. The resident then joined the second man he believed to be a police officer. The two accomplices left by car shortly after.

The couple then realized that he had just been stripped and raised the alert. Findings were made in the house by investigators. The loot taken away by the criminals is colossal: they got their hands on 42 kilos of gold bars and about 500 Napoleonic gold coins, as well as cash, for a total amount that exceeds two million. euros according to our information. A 22 caliber long rifle rifle was also stolen.

The investigation was entrusted to the brigade for the repression of banditry (BRB) of the Paris judicial police.

Similar flights in the Paris region

Several other thefts by false quality with a very similar operating mode have occurred in the Paris region in recent weeks, in particular in Paris and in Val-de-Marne, according to our information. This was particularly the case for a 76-year-old man in the 16th arrondissement of the capital, last February.

After receiving a visit from an individual posing as an agent of the company Veolia, the septuagenarian saw two fake police officers arrive who told him that they were going to do checks in his apartment, all to make sure that nothing had been stolen. The criminals got their hands on nearly 200,000 euros worth of jewelry. It remains to be seen for the investigators whether it is each time the same perpetrators or several different teams of criminals.
