On Monday night, two blasts went off at different addresses in Stockholm.
The first explosion occurred at the entrance to a residential building in Grimsta and is described as powerful. The next, somewhat milder one occurred later in Bagarmossen.
Police don’t rule out that the explosion could be linked to the fact that a 20-year-old man was killed on New Year’s Eve shot and killed in Vällingby in a possible gang fight.
– It is one of the hypotheses that we are evaluating, but it is too early to make a statement. But we will of course investigate, Ola Österling in the police tells TT.
Five people arrested
There was a big police intervention in Stockholm in the morning hours, and five people were arrested after the blasts.
The Espresso reports that one of those arrested will be a well-known rap artist.
The artist is said to have had great success in his music career in recent years, has been previously convicted and has ties to criminal rings.
According to Aftonbladet’s information, police suspect the explosion in Grimsta was aimed at another well-known rapper, with links to the address.
In the morning hours, the police specified that one of the arrested, a man, was accused of being responsible for the explosion in Bagarmossen.
– He is reported for damage and serious threats. It’s happening because he set off an explosive charge that should have been aimed at a person, says Österling.
Police do not currently see any connection between the two blasts but say they will investigate several recent incidents.
– Extremely powerful
The first explosion occurred around 3 am on Monday.
– It was an extremely powerful explosion that caused massive damage to the entrance to the residential building, Österling tells TT.
An hour later, another explosion occurred in Bagarmossen.
– It’s significantly smaller than Grimsta’s, but it happened in a stairwell. We don’t have much information, but we will obviously look into whether the explosions are connected, says Österling.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the explosions.
