Two awareness-raising marches for Endometriosis on March 25 – Réunion la 1ère

On Saturday March 25, 2023, the “March of Hope” returns for a new edition, in Trois-Bassins. In Saint-Pierre, the Endomarch will take place in Saint-Pierre. Both aim to raise awareness and exchange around endometriosis.

For the second edition of the “March of Hope”, Elodie Boyer, the president of the Endo Espoir Océan Indien association is expecting even more people than last year.

Two walking routes have been designed, starting from the church square in Trois-Bassins, to highlight endometriosis, this chronic disease that causes pain in women during their periods. It is due to the presence of tissues outside the uterine cavity, which will be influenced by hormonal changes, and cause disabling pain, or even in some cases, infertility.

The first edition of the March of Hope took place in 2022.

Unfortunately, no treatment exists to date to remedy endometriosis. Elodie Boyer, she explains having “decided to turn to natural medicine to relieve us as much as possible“.

Thus, on the Endovillage which will be set up in Trois-Bassins, visitors will be able to find naturopaths, herbalists, art therapists, socio-beauticians, dance workshops… but also food stands and activities for children. In total, 24 stands will be offered to the public, as well as a set of local artists, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

For the president of Endo Espoir Océan Indien, this type of event is still necessary, although the disease is increasingly well known. “Endometriosis is still too taboo, and some are in diagnostic wanderings, are victims of the judgment of others, of the family… They decide to shut themselves up and not talk about it anymore“, she regrets.

Elodie Grondin, president of the association, was on the set of Réunion La 1ère:

Note also that on the same date, another march against endometriosis will be organized in Saint-Pierre by the association Mon Endometriose Ma Souffrance (MEMS). The fifth edition of the Endomarch will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., meeting is given on the gardens of the beach. Here too, a health village will be open to the public, led by several associations and health professionals to discuss endometriosis and its consequences on daily life. Conference-debates are also planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with health professionals including Professor Von Théobald Peter, head of the gynecology department at the CHU Nord, or on the quality of life at work with Aract.
