Twitter Blue will become a requirement for the blue tick

Elon Musk wants to tie the verification on Twitter, or the famous blue check mark, to the paid subscription Twitter Blue. This was already vague in the room, but has now been confirmed by the billionaire. In the US, Twitter Blue will cost US $ 8 a month from now on and will obviously continue to bundle other additional features.

Musk said Twitter Blue’s international prices will vary by country and consumer purchasing power. For the United States, the $ 8 Musk quoted represents a huge price increase, because it was previously only $ 5 a month. But the new Twitter owner wants to add more features as well. Musk is currently rebuilding a lot on Twitter. He recently dissolved the board of directors and appears to be planning a revival of the short video platform Vine, directly integrated into Twitter.

Twitter Blue subscribers should generally see fewer ads and have the opportunity to post longer video and audio content. Also, blue users should have priority in responses and mentions. Twitter Blue should also allow you to bypass editorial partners’ paywalls to view otherwise paid content. But this will depend on the publishers who want to play along.

Musk sensationally wants to rebuild Twitter’s monetization because the social network hasn’t made a profit yet. Furthermore, many advertisers are also tightening their belts in the current economic climate. In addition to the measures mentioned, the billionaire also foresees further cuts in staff. Here, too, repressive measures have already been implemented. Musk, on the other hand, wants to be generous with the edit button – it should probably be introduced for all users.

It is not yet clear when the changes to Twitter Blue and verification will take effect. Elon Musk has not yet publicly announced a timetable for this. In any case, Twitter Blue has not yet been officially introduced in Germany. So we’ll probably have to hold out a little longer until something happens.
