Twin brother Jasper (24) caused traffic drama at Borger, relatives furious about accusations | Inland

The May 30 traffic drama on the N34 in Borger, in which four people died, was caused by the driver of one of the cars involved. The 24 year old Jasper from the village of Dalen in Drenthe, according to the police, it appears that a vehicle in front was driven at a higher speed. Both cars became rudderless.

This is evident from the police investigation into the accident in Drenthe, for which witness statements were consulted, as well as camera images and trace research.

“The investigation has not made it clear exactly at what speed the person was driving,” said a spokeswoman for the accident. “It was also previously thought that someone had driven off a slope, but that is now not the case.” The two cars went off the road and three more cars were involved.

Moody ride?

according to Newspaper of the North Noord Jasper would have been guilty of a mad ride, in which he overtook several cars at 170 kilometers per hour, on a road with a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The police cannot confirm that and refers to the press release.

The driver’s relatives reacted furiously to the allegations. “We read all kinds of things in the media that have not been confirmed by the police at all. Nobody knows exactly what happened. We do not recognize Jasper in the things that we read back at all,” his twin brother Joost said in a comment.

Jasper’s uncle is dumbfounded: ,,We assumed that Jasper was not the cause of the accident. That now appears to be the case, although it remains unclear what exactly happened. It is first and foremost a terrible accident, for all parties. Unfortunately we can’t change it anymore, and Jasper can’t tell it anymore. It’s hard to say anything about this, it’s just really bad.”

Chaos

The accident caused a lot of chaos, several cars were on their side and emergency services were present in large numbers. A 24-year-old man from Dalen, a 69-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man from Assen and a 48-year-old man from Gramsbergen died. Five others were seriously injured. Since the driver who collided with another car is one of the deceased, no criminal prosecution will take place.
