twelve lightly wounded near Chartres

A first floor apartment caught fire in the early afternoon, in Mainvilliers near Chartres, mobilizing over 30 firefighters. At the origin of the fire, a child’s game with a match.

The tenants of an apartment building in Mainvilliers, near Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), had a big scare. On 15 November, just before 3 pm, a fire broke out on the first floor of a three-story building.

More than 30 firefighters were mobilized to the scene to put out the blaze. The road was completely cordoned off during the afternoon, report our colleagues from the Écho Républicain.

According to the first elements of the police investigation, the origin of the fire would be accidental: “The departure would be linked to a six-year-old boy playing with matches. The family had just moved into the flat and there were flammable items like cardboard or paper.” explains a police source.

The fire remained confined to this single apartment and the other families “they were all able to return to their lodgings” indicate the same source. Twelve people have still been taken to hospital with smoke poisoning, Eure-et-Loire firefighters say.
