TVP blocks the series because of Maciej Stuhr? Strong response from the station

– I already have one “shelf” on my account (the films that hit TVP’s shelves are now called “shelves” – ed.). Seven years ago we shot “Excentryków, or on the Sunny Side of the Street”. Janusz Majewski’s film was released in cinemas, the series was edited, but it was never broadcast on TVP. I learned that it would not be broadcast because of me. Public money has been spent, but out of spite of one actor, television prefers to lose – replied Stuhr.

TVP boycotts the series because of Maciej Stuhr? Janusz Majewski: pathetic

In an interview with Wirtualna Polska Janusz Majewski refers to Stuhr’s words. As reported, the late producer Włodzimierz Niderhaus tried unsuccessfully to find out why the series was not broadcast. He was to hear about the need to set a price for the issue.

“I suppose what Stuhr said is true.” Stuhr thinks he is blacklisted for his actions and statements and is punishable by some kind, he comments.

– I rate it as bad as possible. I would not like to deal with a television that uses such methods, especially since this series has nothing to do with current politics. It is not a political manifesto aimed in either direction. It is all the more pathetic and absurd. It reminds me of the times of the Polish People’s Republic, Majewski emphasizes.

TVP responds to Maciej Stuhr. “The Manifestation of Megalomania”

We turned to TVP with a question about the reasons for not broadcasting the series “The Eccentrics”. In response, the station calls Stuhr’s allegations “bogus”. He emphasizes that the film version of “Excentryków” was broadcast on TVP many times, in line with the agreement.

In addition, TVP lists films with Maciej Stuhr that were broadcast in 2021: “Fuks”, “All Saints”, “Wesele”, “Julia returns home”, “Solidarity, Solidarity”.

“The allegations about the alleged” cutting “of Maciej Stuhr’s antennas from TVP’s antennas are therefore absurd. They may be a manifestation of megalomania and aversion to Polish Television” – TVP ends its commentary.

“The Eccentrics, or on the Sunny Side of the Street”: what is the film about?

The series in question is an extended version of the 2015 film entitled “The Eccentrics, or on the Sunny Side of the Street”, awarded with four Eagles and Silver Lions at the Gdynia festival.

It is an extraordinary story of a jazzman (Maciej Stuhr) who returns to Poland from England at the end of the 1950s. Together with a group of eccentric musicians, he creates a swing big-band. Modesta (Natalia Rybicka) becomes the star of the band, together they achieve great success. The musician quickly loses his head for the seductive and mysterious fatal Woman. They soon begin to have a hot romance. As “King and Queen of Swing” they go on tour in Poland, and their life begins to resemble a Hollywood movie.
