Cafeteria seeks to challenge the heat wave

Café Punta del Cielo, chaired and founded by Pablo González Cid, seeks to leave behind the ravages left by the pandemic that caused the closure of up to 40 of its points of sale, to focus on understanding the new consumption habits of its customers and challenge to the heat wave that the country is experiencing with its 137 cafeterias.

“The idea is to show that Mexico can compete, that it has very good and excellent coffee, taking care of all these aspects of the supply chain behind a cup of coffee (…) obviously the heat is something that affects, but this year the challenge, what we are worried about is the rains that have not arrived and it is essential that this time of year it starts to rain in the coffee plantations, because if not, we will be in serious trouble,” González Cid anticipated.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Café punta del Cielo bet on its alliance with Gayosso Funeral Homes, however, since vigils were not held for almost two years due to the health emergency, the results were not optimal; while at the points of sale open within Liverpool department stores, the situation was similar, since these businesses had restrictions to operate normally.

“Today we have 137 branches, with the issue of Covid-19 we closed quite a few, a sad situation, around 30 to 40 branches, and the idea right now is to understand the new market change that took place (…). This epidemic came to change the rules of the game and change how people go out and consume and understanding this now, the challenge is to replace what was lost”, the manager stated.

Within this brand strategy, he highlighted that the fundamental pillar continues to be promoting Mexican coffee, which is why they maintain alliances and work hand in hand with coffee growers from Chiapas, Oaxaca, Veracruz and Nayarit.

He concluded that carrying out actions that reduce climate change are relevant today, followed by the adoption of innovation and it will be until November, when the harvest is lifted, to know if the rain delay affected it.
