Honorary President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) Valentin Piseev believes that Eteri Tutberidze should receive the ISU Skating Awards as the best coach.
“Tutberidze is the best coach in the world. For me, even questions do not arise. The era that she herself created is really connected with her.
Probably, Gleichenhaus should flicker among the best choreographers, as he was noted for interesting programs with such strong athletes. But to me personally it’s closer to talk about coaches, because I think it’s difficult to objectively evaluate the contribution of the choreographer to the athlete’s success. Another work of the choreographer is a matter of taste. Someone may like, someone not.
And the trainers are more visible, and the athlete on the ice clearly shows what his coach taught him. On the other hand, if Tutberidze is recognized as the best coach, what she deserves, then the number one choreographer is probably worth choosing a foreign one. Let them recognize any of the three nominees as the best, most importantly, for Tutberidze to take her prize. This is in my opinion, ”said Piseev.
