Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The price of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) of Pertalite gasoline (RON 90) and subsidized diesel officially increased on September 3, 2022. Currently, the price of Pertalite gasoline is now sold at Rp. 10,000 per liter compared to the previous Rp. 7,650 per liter. Hence, the price of subsidized diesel rose to Rp 6,800 per liter from Rp 5,150 per liter.

However, the current selling price of Pertalite gasoline is still lower than its cheap price, so it is still subsidized by the government.

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said Pertalite’s current economic price was Rp 14,450. per liter.

By comparison, the selling price of petrol equivalent to Pertalite sold by private petrol stations such as BP-AKR has now reached Rp 15,320 per liter, more expensive than Sri Mulyani claimed. The price of BP 90 is only Rp. 100 per liter from BP 92 or the Pertamina equivalent of Pertamax petrol. BP-AKR sells the BP 92 at a price of Rp 15,420 per liter.

Pertamax’s current selling price has also been increased to Rp. 14,500 per liter compared to the previous Rp. 12,500 per liter.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had said that the decision to raise the price of subsidized fuel was the government’s last resort so it could divert fuel subsidies.

“This is the government’s last option, which is to divert fuel subsidies. So that the prices of different types of fuel that have been subsidized so far will be adjusted,” Jokowi said at President Jokowi’s press conference. and related ministers on the transfer of fuel subsidies, which was broadcast on the Youtube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Saturday (03/03) .9 / 2022).

Jokowi said the government subsidy budget has increased threefold from Rp. 152.5 trillion to Rp. 502.4 trillion and will continue to rise. More than 70% of the subsidy is actually received by groups of people who can afford it, namely the owners of private cars.

“The government money should have been given to subsidies for the poor. The subsidies should be for the benefit of the poor,” Jokowi said.
