Turkey is not a refuge for them

ANKARA, KOMPAS.TVTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly rejects the presence of Afghan refugees in his country.

He also firmly said that Turkey is not a paradise for Afghan refugees.

This was revealed by Erdogan during a cabinet meeting in Ankara, Thursday (19/8/2021).

“Turkey has no obligation whatsoever to be a place of refuge for Afghan refugees,” he said Daily Sabah.

The statement addresses public concerns about a possible influx of refugees.

Erdogan also stressed that he would return the refugees to his country safely.

“It is the duty of us Turkish citizens to ensure the refugees return safely to their countries of origin,” he added.

Previously, Erdogan was criticized by the Turkish government for accepting 1.5 million Afghan refugees.

However, this statement denies all these allegations.
