Riga, Nov. 1, LETA. “Tukums 2000” / TSS on Sunday celebrated the victory of “Optibet” in the 24th round of the Latvian Football Super League, continuing the fight not to fall out of the Super League.
Tukums residents beat Jurmala “Spartaka” team 4: 2 (0: 1).
Since “Metta” lost to the “Riga” team on Sunday, Tukums have just two points to the penultimate place. However, the debutants of the Premier League are expected to fight with the teams at the top of the tournament table in the last three rounds.
Jūrmalnieki took the lead in the eighth minute, when after a corner kick the ball was received by Samats Sarsenovs, who was infallible – 1: 0. Also in the second half the goal was scored after a corner kick. At first, in the fourth minute of the half, Spamak’s Pam Samuel reached 1: 1 from the penalty area, but ten minutes later Saminu Abdullahi scored the ball in the second goal, restoring the Marines’ leadership.
The people of Tukums did not give up and in the 69th minute equalized the result again, Jānis Krautmanis stood out after the pass of Emeka Basil. Within two minutes, the guests turned the game to a completely different bed, because in the 71st minute after the corner kick, Olabanggio Ogundji stood out – 3: 2 in favor of “Tukums 2000” / TSS.
At the beginning of the game, the Tukuma player played with his hand in the penalty area, but the referee’s whistle was silent. This was followed by a counterattack by the guests, which was stopped by Nauris Bulvītis with the penalty of the last hope, thus “Spartaks” received a red card instead of a penalty kick of 11 meters.
Playing in the majority, four minutes before the end of the regular time, Ogundži went alone against Dāvis Oša and achieved already 4: 2 in favor of the guests.
Meanwhile, the leader of the super league Riga “beat the” Metta “team in his field with the result 5: 1 (1: 0).
Already in the fourth minute, with a strong shot from a close distance, “Riga” team leader was nominated by the champion captain Stefans Paničs. At half-time, however, the guests showed respectable resistance, and the result remained unchanged.
In the third minute of the second half, Stefans Miloševičs scored 2: 0 in favor of “Riga” after the corner kick. The Serbian footballer also scored the next goal, successfully playing in front of the goal in the 68th minute.
However, two minutes later after Raimonds Kroļlis’ shot, the ball hit Elvja Stuglis’ foot and arrived at the “Riga” goal, slightly reducing the visitors’ lead. With 11 minutes played, Pedrinju nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
The hosts scored the victory in the 89th minute, when Roger reached 5: 1.
In another game, the vice-league leader RFS beat “Daugavpils” 2: 1 (2: 1) away.
Named Diefors, who started this season in “Daugavpils”, led the RFS team. First the ball was repulsed by the opponent’s goalkeeper, then Renārs Varslavāns hit the crossbar, but finally Ofors was the bouncing ball – 1: 0. ‘
In the 22nd minute, after a gross mistake of the home team, RFS captain Tomás Šimkovičs achieved 2: 0 in favor of the guests, but three minutes before the end of the first half, after a masterful match, Stanislavs Nechiporenko regained one goal.
Elsewhere, “Ventspils” defeated “Jelgava” with the guests 5: 0 (2: 0).
Ventspils residents took the lead in the seventh minute, when Jevgenijs Kozlovs came up from a close distance, and Dumte Pjagbarā left the ball. In the half-time, in the 26th minute, Lukass Villela took the defense of Jelgava, who reached 2: 0.
In the middle of the second half, in a controversial situation, 11-meter penalties were awarded to the Jelgava goal, which was implemented in the 67th minute in Piagbar, reaching 3: 0. Ventspils residents were restless and in the 74th minute after passing in the penalty area Kozlovs received the ball, put it on the blow and reached 4: 0 from a close distance.
A minute later, “Jelgava” did not send the ball out of the penalty area in the opponent’s attack, Kaspars Svārups already achieved the five-goal advantage.
On Sunday, all ten teams had to go to the top league, but on Friday, after receiving the results of the Covid-19 tests, it turned out that one “Valmiera” football player had been diagnosed with the virus. For this reason, the game between the two units was postponed to an unknown time on Saturday.
The first place in the tournament table with 66 points in 24 matches is taken by “Riga”, which is nine points ahead of RFS, which has played 23 games. 39 points are for “Valmiera”, 37 points – for “Ventspils”, 32 points for 21 games – “Liepāja”, but 31 points – for “Spartak”. Next is “Jelgava” with 21 points, “Daugavpils” has scored 19 points, “Metta” team has 16 points, while “Tukums 2000” / TSS has reached 11 points.
This season, ten teams will start in the Super League, which is one more than last year and two more than yesterday. Also, this season in the Super League, the legionnaire limit has been raised to eight players. This means that there must be at least three players prepared for the association on the court at the same time. Last year, the limit was five foreign players.
As in many other countries, after the coronavirus break in the regulations of the Premier League championship in the 2020 season, the number of permitted player substitutions has been increased from three to five.
Due to a three-month forced break, three are taking place instead of four planned laps this season.
Last year, “Riga” was crowned Latvian champion, but RFS won its first trophy in the history of the club, which won the national cup.
