Last week, an FBI and Justice Department investigation in Michigan led to the arrest of a dozen suspects who wanted to kidnap Governor Whitmer. They are suspected of wanting to storm the parliament in Lansing.

“I believe she said she was being threatened,” Trump said when his supporters started calling again. “And she blamed me for that!”

Whitmer accused Trump of stirring up anger among a section of the population during the corona pandemic. For example, in the spring he sparked protests against Whitmer’s measures and wrote on Twitter: “Free Michigan!”

Despite the ongoing corona pandemic, Trump is organizing campaign rallies in key fighting states less than three weeks into the election.

Michigan is currently experiencing a dramatic rise in corona infections. On Friday, there were more than 2,000 infections, the highest number since the start of the pandemic, according to the health ministry.
