President Donald Trump said the novel coronavirus vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical company Modena was “overwhelmingly approved”.
President Trump disclosed the same on his Twitter this morning (18th), saying “the vaccine will begin immediately.”
He also stressed that a vaccine is coming out, saying, “Chinese virus” is hitting Europe and other parts of the world, especially in Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
The previous day, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory Committee on Vaccine and Biological Drugs (VRBPAC) held a meeting and reviewed the vaccine efficacy and safety data submitted by the FDA and Modena and recommended approval for the use of the vaccine.
In the voting that day, 20 advisory members agreed and 1 abstained.
Previously, the FDA approved the emergency use of the’Pfizer-Bioentech’ vaccine, and vaccination began on the 14th in the United States.
An official in charge of the supply of vaccines in the United States said that 5.9 million doses of modder or vaccine will be delivered around the beginning of next week, and 20 million doses are expected to be distributed by the end of this month.
