Trump and kids try to block New York subpoena | Abroad

Last month, James sued the Trump family holding company for allegedly misrepresenting the value of several of the company’s assets. James then said he had significant new information to suggest that.

James wanted the subpoenas to ensure that Trump’s children Donald Trump junior and Ivanka Trump would testify in the investigation, which has been running for almost three years.

According to Trump family lawyers, James, who is a Democrat, is targeting the former president because he is a Republican. James would disapprove of “his political perspective” and “try to interfere with his political ambitions.”

On Monday, Trump’s team had filed documents surrounding another lawsuit against the former president, that of Capitol police officers who were on duty on Jan. 6, 2021, when the government building was stormed. The officers are “clinging to straws” by linking Trump to the storm, the documents say. Washington Mayor and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi would bear responsibility, according to Trump’s team.

In fact, publicly available documents show that President Trump was the one who sought to protect Washington DC in the run-up to January 6, by authorizing the National Guard to protect the Capitol, the document reads.
