The highway was completely closed in the direction of Ghent for a while, but the left lane reopened just before 5 p.m.
The traffic nuisance remained very large until late tonight: the fire brigade had to open all the hay to be able to properly extinguish the fire. The traffic jam on the E40 reached as far as the Brussels Outer Ring. Two more accidents had occurred on the Outer Ring, which led to additional traffic misery. All lanes were reopened around 10 p.m. tonight.
