The adult costumed contest of the Santa Cruz Carnival continues, although with significant casualties. The female Triquikonas and Marchilongas have confirmed in the last hours their resignation to participate, for similar reasons; while the descent from La Traviata is also safe. Three historical formations decline the option of competing under the new premises, as a consequence of the health situation; and they open a parenthesis that they hope to close in 2023.
To the relief of the organization and its fans, the defender of the First Interpretation won in 2020 will do “everything possible” to leave. This is confirmed by Javi Lemus, director of Los Zeta Zetas, who in recent hours has held various meetings with the most “technological” part of his bet for the upcoming contest; and although it seems difficult to get to the level of the chroma or the fence in just three months, the confirmed news of the pre-registration indicates that they will come out, once the initial doubts and debate have been sorted out.
The same occurs with Los Trapaseros, from where the final yes comes to the Santa Cruz contest, whose tables will be uploaded by Juanca López. It is an unknown in what is the North contest, where the realejeros no longer participate.
As for Burlonas, the positioning of his representative in the meetings with Fiestas pointed to no. But Adela Peña emphasizes that the decision of the members will be respected and, once the majority opted for yes, the Venue will see the female murga sing that has made criticism its great banner.
Disclaimers are important. La Traviata was among the first to refuse a possible contest in 2021, which there was not; and now they have also formalized their resignation in 2022. As for Marchilongas, in a statement they express various reasons to uphold their final decision and state that the contest that Fiestas is planning is still at the mercy of the health crisis, not yet fully closed. The decision of Las Triquikonas has a lot to do with its number of members, which far exceeds the 85 microphones arranged by the organization for the two themes in the competition that will make up the next February edition.
The party councilor, Alfonso Cabello, has advanced that the contest will consist of a song in phase; and another in the end, it is assumed that with eight participants in the great night of humor and criticism, which will take place at the International Center for Fairs and Congresses, in principle with a mask (it will depend on the evolution of the pandemic) and with a disposition almost identical to the one chosen for 2021 for the virtual Carnival.
