Trine from “Sommerhytta” got blood poisoning

This year’s season off The “summer cottage” is already well underway. As in previous seasons, it has engaged a lot, and Norwegian men in both houses and cabins are more than happy to sit down in the sofa corner to follow the cabin construction.

However, it is not entirely without drama. It is not so uncommon for everything from abrasions and injuries to chips in the finger when refurbishing. Of course, this can also happen at “Sommerhytta”.

In a somewhat eager attempt to move a flower box, something went wrong in Thursday’s episode for one of the participants in this year’s season. One of the twins, Trine Rishaug Lium (41), manages to get chips in her finger.

– So it was so painful. It is not often that I laugh at pain, but then I shed a few tears. It just flowed, she says in the episode.

– Should have been a little cautious

Then you can see the twin sister Trude Rishaug Lium (41) try to get the tile out, and even suggest cutting up the area with a knife so that you can get it out. You can also hear her say that it would have been nice to get it out, so that the sister does not get blood poisoning.

What does not appear on television, however, is that this is exactly what is happening.

In Monday’s episode, Trine is absent. Due to the tile, she has been sent to the hospital, where it was found that she has had blood poisoning.

– I do not remember Trude even saying that. I did not think the thought, I just thought it was tile. At first I thought it was inflammation, since we were doing soil. I should probably have been a little cautious, she says to Se og Hør.

She also says that the hand only got worse and worse.

– It started to swell and get hot, but I thought it was nothing special, just that it was because of the tile.

Got scared

When she came home to Rygge, the cheerful 41-year-old thought she could take care of herself. She smeared on an antibiotic cream from the USA and buzzed around “something stuff”, she explains with a laugh.

On Monday, when she was going back to “Sommerhytta”, however, she noticed that something was wrong, and she therefore stopped by the emergency room for a check.

– I may not have been in very good shape but asked to get some tablets and thought it would go fine. Then I was told to stay home for the antibiotic to work. I had actually packed my things and was going to travel, but I had very high CRP.

Blood poisoning (sepsis)

  • Blood poisoning is a very serious infection where bacteria have entered the bloodstream.
  • All bacteria can potentially cause blood poisoning, but some bacteria cause it more frequently than others, such as the intestinal bacterium E.coli.
  • In Norway there are approx. 3 out of 1000 adults who get blood poisoning a year
  • Without treatment, sepsis can be fatal. Mortality varies greatly, but is between 10 and 80 percent.

As the evening wore on, her hand only got worse, and she describes it as extremely painful. As she sat outside that night, it became clearer that it was serious.

– I thought “father, I have such poor eyesight”. Then I just thought “oh my god, what is this, it’s not normal”. When I was a little scared, since my eyes did not work, she says.

– Could have gone wrong

Then she decided to call the emergency room, and went there. When she arrived, she had a CRP of well over 300, she says, and the trip therefore went straight to Kalnes hospital.

– They said I should be glad I came then, otherwise it could have gone really wrong. They had great difficulty getting the CRP down.

CRP measures whether there is inflammation or infection in the body, and should normally be between 5 and 10 mg / L, according to Lommelegen. As mentioned, Trine had a CRP of over 300.

The acute illness meant that Trine had to stay in hospital all week, in addition to staying at home for two to three days after that.

– But I thought “I’m going back”, I was very eager for it, she says, and adds:

– I have thought about it in retrospect, I was not in shape. It had ravaged something in my body, I felt it. But I did not say anything about it. I’m not the type who gives me that easily, she says with a laugh.

In conclusion, she points out that everything is fine again today, and that she has not had any problems in retrospect.
